Environmental & Habitat

Among the many conservation projects funded by SCI, two of the Chapter's projects have received singular recognition and support. Bridging the issues of education and environment is a project funded by the Chapter in cooperation with the "Friends of Blackwater" and a Cambridge High School carpentry class to build board walks through salt water marshes on the Blackwater National Wildlife Reserve near Cambride, MD. The Chapter is also hands-on and its members worked with the Baltimore Aquarium and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service to seed salt water marsh grass on Barren Island in the Chesapeake Bay, a long-term environmental and habitat restoration project of great significances to the Bay.
