SCI is an important voice in sportsmen's caucuses at the local and national level and in various international forums, including bodies responsible for regulations such as CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) and many other issues relating to the sport of hunting. In addition, SCI and its chapters operate as responsible citizens in the community through its many educational and humanitarian efforts. This includes broad programs managed by its Humanitarian Services division and involves not only the "Sportsmen Against Hunger" program but also many other projects both at home and abroad. The Chesapeake Chapter (CC) of Safari Club International (SCI) was founded in 1995. The Chesapeake Chapter of SCI (CC-SCI) is an active partner with other groups concerned with various aspects of the broad hunting agenda including such organizations as Ducks Unlimited, Wild Turkey Federation, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Maryland Sportsmen's Alliance, and others. The Chapter is a completely voluntary organization that maintains a twelve month agenda reflecting humanitarian services, environmental and habitat restoration, youth and hunter education, hunter safety, shooting sports promotion, as well as an active agenda of shooting events, social activities, and hunter advocacy. SCI is truly"First For Hunters" and the Chesapeake Chapter is a family-friendly organization with activities catering to every age group. Anyone interested in hunting is encouraged to join. |
